HIV Stops With Us Oakland Launched October 23, 2008
Alameda County Public Health Department's Office of AIDS Administration is one of five health jurisdictions involved in a new HIV Prevention/Anti-Stigma Campaign called HIV Stops With Us.
Officially launched Oct. 23, the campaign ads and website highlight what happens when HIV positive and negative people come together to stop the transmission of the disease, as well as provide acceptance and support.
Although HIV affects every ethnic and social community, Alameda County’s statistics show that African Americans and Latino men who have sex with men (MSM) account for the largest rates of those who are currently infected. Accordingly, spokes models have been selected from those two groups to be the face of the campaign.
