Planning for Healthy Communities
Alameda County Public Health Department staff is strengthening collaborations with planners, engineers, policy makers, community-based organizations, and community members to improve the health and well being of our communities. The goal being to create system changes in the planning and design of the built environment by incorporating the relationship of the built environment to health. Staff is collaborating with cities (including Oakland, Fremont), county agencies (Community Development, Environmental Health, Fire, Public Works, Redevelopment), regional agencies (ABAG, MTC, Caltrans, BART, BARHII), and community groups (TALC and Urban Habitat).
