The Alcohol and Drug Prevention Program is a community-focused program that aims to reduce and prevent alcohol and other drug (AOD) problems using primary prevention strategies. The program works to reduce AOD problems through changes in public policies, social norms, laws and regulations. |

All organizations and individuals throughout the county interested in community and neighborhood-based prevention initiatives are encouraged to become active. |

| Major Events and Activities: |
Community prevention events and activities evolve from the needs and concerns identified by local residents. They are, therefore, continuously changing. Please use the contact information below to find out about current projects. Examples include:- The Alameda County Alcohol Policy Network facilitated through Community Recovery Services, Inc., is a local and statewide leader in the area of alcohol policy issues. The Network plays a central role in the Coalition on Alcohol Outlet Issues in the City of Oakland, creating safer, cleaner, more responsible and less problematic alcohol sales in the city. - The East Oakland Boxing Association provides a safe, supportive, caring, alcohol and drug-free environment for children and young people in one of Oakland's highest crime/poverty areas. For more information please visit the East Oakland Boxing Association website.
- The Interfaith Prevention Program (IPPI) works primarily with faith and religious groups throughout the county, building alliances and partnerships. IPPI facilitates community wide moments of spiritual reflection as well as provide alcohol and drug-free alternative social events in communities throughout the County.
