California Health Interview Survey
Health of Alameda County’s Adults: Selected Findings of the 2003 California Health Interview Survey

This report examines health status, health-related behaviors, prevention and screening practices, social and neighborhood characteristics, and access to health care among Alameda County adults and identifies vulnerable groups. It presents data from the 2003 California Health Interview Survey, a random telephone survey, which provides important empirical guidance for the development of policies and programs to address health inequities in Alameda County. This report focuses on the relationship between health and socioeconomic status—income and education in addition to demographic characteristics—age, gender, race/ethnicity.
