Office of Dental Health promotes the oral (dental) health of Alameda County residents by assessment of oral health problems and resources to address them. This unit assures access to community-based resources and programs, and develops policies that address the oral health needs of the community. The emphasis is on prevention.

The Office of Dental Health has four programs that address the dental or oral health needs of County residents, particularly children California Children’s Dental Disease Prevention Program (CCDDPP) School-based dental program that includes classroom oral health education Healthy Smiles Children’s Dental Program Dental treatment and insurance enrollment program for Alameda County children under age 19 Healthy Kids, Healthy Teeth Education and outreach to reduce prevalence of childhood cavities School Dental Sealant Program School-based dental screenings, exams, cleaning, fluoride treatments, and dental sealants for second and fifth grade children.

Goals Develop resources and programs to address dental disease prevention and health promotion among children ages 0-5 year. Develop resources to address preventive dental health care for school age children at risk for dental or medical problems Provide dental sealants and preventive education by working with Alameda County school districts Collaborate with community, professional and regional organizations to advocate for resources and policies that address dental health needs Advocate for access to childhood dental care by age 1
