Dental - School Dental Sealant Program
The School Dental Sealant Program provides school-based dental screenings, exams, cleaning, fluoride treatments, and dental sealants for second and fifth grade children. Dental sealants prevent cavities on the biting surfaces of permanent molar teeth.
Our goals are to provide:
Dental screenings and referral for dental treatment for 2nd and 5th grade children
Preventive dental services in a school setting for children who otherwise might not receive preventive dental care
Referral of uninsured children to
Healthy Smiles Children’s Dental Program
Assistance to families of uninsured children to enroll in MediCal, Healthy Families or other medical and dental insurance
Program Eligibility:
Schools with a free-or-reduced-school-lunch percentage greater than 50%.
Second and fifth grade elementary school students in Alameda County are eligible with parental consent.
Acceptance criteria for schools include: matching funding, school Healthy Start program, acceptable space, administrative and school-nurse support, and
California Children’s Dental Disease Prevention Program (CCDDP)
participation.
