Legislative Council

The Legislative Council’s mission is to raise awareness of public health issues throughout Alameda County. The Council works to develop and implement a locally focused, strategic legislative plan for ensuring that public health policies and programs are based on community needs and interests.  This helps move forward key social and health equity issues by advocating for policies at the state and federal levels that address these issues.  The Legislative Council is a core part of the department’s policy work that also seeks to build staff and resident capacity to address the root causes of health inequities through legislation.
