Ongoing Personal Emergency Preparedness Trainings

Personal Emergency Preparedness Training - Over the Phone!

This Personal Emergency Preparedness Training is specifically meant for older community dwelling adults, frail elderly, persons with disabilities of all ages, homebound and non ambulatory individuals and caregivers. Trainings are held the first Friday of every month from 10 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. in English and from 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. in Spanish. Please view the training flyers to register.

Training Information
Each one-hour, phone-based training covers basic emergency preparedness for individuals and families, focusing on the additional and customized planning needs of the target audiences above. Topics include:

  • Creating a Basic Needs Kit (Water, Food, Communication, Light, Safety, Health & Sanitation, Other Essential Tools)
  • Additional Health & Mobility Needs (dietary needs, medications, assistive technology items, supplies and durable medical equipment back-up)
  • Making a Plan with Family, Caregivers and Neighbors (Vial of Life, emergency numbers, evacuation routes, meeting locations)
  • Basic Free Smart Phone Apps (flashlight, contact info/ICE, compass, radio, maps, shelter list, whistle)
