Transition of HIV Patients into the HealthPAC/Low Income Health Program (LIHP)

LIHP Home Page ImageThe Low Income Health Program (LIHP) is a new health coverage program for uninsured residents of Alameda County. Eligible patients must be between 19 to 64 years of age, and be a United States citizen or legal permanent resident who has resided in the U.S. continuously for 5 or more years.

There are two components of the LIHP program:

  • the Medi-Cal Coverage Expansion program (MCE) for adults whose household gross income is at or below 133% of the Federal Poverty Level, and
  • the Health Care Coverage Initiative program (HCCI) for adults whose household gross income is between 134-200% of the Federal Poverty Level.

The information on this site is intended to assist and educate HIV+ clients about the transition to HealthPAC/LIHP for persons currently receiving medical benefits and care through Ryan White Programs and ADAP (AIDS Drug Assistance Program).  LIHP clients who are eligible for Ryan White may still receive Ryan White services that are not covered by LIHP.

Note: New implementation start date for the screening of ADAP clients for LIHP is now August 1, 2012.
