Childhood Injury Prevention

Injuries are the leading cause of death to California residents from birth through age 40.  Unintentional injuries or accidents are preventable.  Childhood Injury Prevention’s goal is to reduce the number of unintentional injuries among children 14 years of age and younger. We are committed to teaching parents, children and service providers how to prevent injuries through the provision of health education, promotion of health and safety practices and advocacy.

Frequent injuries among children are caused by:

  • Motor vehicle accidents
  • Drowning
  • Poisoning
  • Suffocation
  • Falls
