CCNI Mini Grant Program
ACPHD Goal
To train Oakland residents in skills ranging from designing a small grant program, applying and helping others through the application, writing, program planning, and event organizing. In CCNI neighborhoods, residents created, administered, and implemented.
Sobrante Park
Sobrante Park residents work on two Mini-Grant committees to provide seed money for neighborhood improvement projects ($350 - $1,500).
- The Sobrante Park Healthy Eating and Active Living Mini Grant Project (SP-HEAL) distributed 6 mini-grants in 2006 and 8 in 2007 to community resident groups to promote healthy eating and physical activity.
- Sobrante Park youth had a separate mini-grant process called Youth Grants 4 Youth
West Oakland
In West Oakland, with TA and support from ACPHD and the City of Oakland, six WO RAC members developed, recruited and administered the Mini-grant program.
Projects funded included the Durant Park Halloween Party, baseball uniforms and basketball equipment for two local neighborhood teams, WO youth sharing the youth survey results and a youth etiquette development project.
