Comprehensive Perinatal Services Program (CPSP)

Pregnant WomanThe Comprehensive Perinatal Services Program (CPSP) is a Medi-Cal program that provides comprehensive services for eligible low-income pregnant and postpartum women.  Central to CPSP is the understanding that pregnancy and birth outcomes improve when pregnant women receive nutrition, health education, and psychosocial services in addition to routine obstetric care.

Goal

To decrease the incidence of low birth weight in infants and improve the outcome for every pregnancy through enhanced perinatal care and to give every woman and baby a healthy start.

Services

The CPSP client receives a client orientation, initial and ongoing assessment, care plan development, case coordination, appropriate nutrition, health education, and psychosocial interventions and referral services.
